CABLING SYSTEM PROTECTION

Screening/Shielding  1 In the Signamax Cabling System for the efficient screening of the telecommunications systems, the screen continuity in the links and channels must be provided on the whole length, including the connecting hardware, equipment and patch cords.

Screening/Shielding  2 Before the use of the screened equipment cables meant for the active equipment connections to the cabling system, care shall be taken to ensure this type of connection is allowed by the active equipment manufacturer.

Screening/Shielding  1 To avoid any possible current loops and frame antennas in the Signamax Cabling System it is recommended the Horizontal cabling subsystem screen have a single grounding point located within the telecommunications spaces (TR, ER, EF).

Screening/Shielding  2 In the Signamax Cabling System the Backbone cabling system screen may be grounded on both ends of the cabling link, providing such grounding shall not cause any current loops and frame antennas.

EMI  3 To provide normal operating conditions for the telecommunications systems in the Signamax Cabling System, the separation of at least 3 m (10 ft) shall be provided between any elements or components of the telecommunications cabling system and any elements or components of the power systems under the effective voltage of above 380 V.

EMI  3 In the Signamax Cabling System to avoid any possible electromagnetic interference effects on running in adjacent pathways or in pathways with separators between the cables of the telecommunications cabling system and the cables of any other systems, the minimum spaces should be maintained: continued on next slide

EMI  3for the systems under effective voltage of 24 V and higher – 50 mm (2 in) for the systems with the power levels of over 5 kVA: –unscreened electric circuits or equipment located by the open or non-metal pathways – 0.6 m (2 ft) –unscreened electric circuits or equipment located by the grounded metal conduit-based pathways – 0.3 m (1 ft) –electric circuits run in a grounded metal conduit (or a pathway with equivalent shielding) located by the grounded metal conduit-based pathways – 0.15 m (6 in) –electric motors and transformers – 1.2 m (4 ft)

Primary/Secondary Protection  4 In the Signamax Cabling Systems to avoid the building information system being affected by the peak voltages and sneak currents, the primary and/ or secondary protection devices should be applied to any twisted- pair cable segments running outside of the building.
