3. Recombinant Transformation Sterile Materials (per group of students) 1 aluminum foil packet containing 8-10 toothpicks

4. Recombinant Transformation Sterile Materials (per group of students) 1 aluminum foil packet containing 4 large, smooth paper clips. The clips should be opened into a 90° angle and the small ends bent up.

5. Recombinant Transformation Sterile Materials Heat the foil packages containing paper clips and toothpicks at 350 o F for at least 30 minutes to sterilize.

6. Recombinant Transformation CaCl 2 Solution Dissolve 0.75 g of CaCl 2 into 50 ml of distilled water in a labeled 100-ml glass bottle with a cap.

7. Recombinant Transformation CaCl 2 Solution Cap the bottle and place it in boiling water for 30 minutes. Cap should be "snugged" down on the bottle. Refrigerate to prevent contamination.
