CARE SC meeting August 2005 T. Garvey JRA1 – SRF (WP 7 – 11)

Task 1. Proto-type couplers 4 couplers of type TTF-V ordered last quarter 4 couplers of type TW60 ordered in July – delivery time is one year. Thermal simulations being performed as requested by ISAC using ANSYS – paid for with EU funds.

Task 2. Titanium-nitride coating bench Estimated cost for “sputter” system is 150 k€ !

Task 3. Conditioning studies Processing TTF-III couplers. Experience gained will be used for Proto-type conditioning.

Budget for 2004 and 2005 already overspent – but can’t be validated. Schedule of WP7

WP – 8 TUNERS UMI Tuner –Many piezo-electric types characterised. Choice made. Tuner proto-types being manufactured by Zanon. Delivery expected October. Magnetostrictive tuner –Analysis of magnetostrictive rods performed. Good option for frequency compensation. Detailed tests delayed, awaiting cryostat insert. CEA Tuner –Two tuners received in June. Mechanical modifications to be made before tests. Piezo electronics developed. Full system to be tested on C45 cavity in CryHoLab. IPNO activities –piezo-electric actuators characterised at low temperature, radiation hardness tests performed, RT measurement of resonant spectrum as function of pre-load force……..

WP – 9 Low Level RF Task 9.1.1 Transient detector – on schedule –Automated and remotely controlled measuring system designed, assembled and tested. Task 9.1.2 LLRF automation – on schedule –FSM for RF power station implemented as DOOCS server – prepared and tested Task 9.2.1 Cost and Reliability – no news Task 9.2.2 Radiation damage studies – on schedule. –RadMon installed and operating routinely. Tested software counter-measures against SEU.

WP – 9 Low Level RF Task 9.3 Hardware Technology –9.3.1 Multichannel convertor - no news –9.3.2 Third Generation RF Control – on schedule Control algorithm tested with SIMCON 3.0 PCB board for SIMCOM 3.1 near to completion –9.3.3 Stable frequency generation Task 9.4 Software Technology –9.4.1 Data management development – on schedule –9.4.2 RF Gun control – no news.

WP-10 Cryostat Integration Tests Modulator being removed from tank before oil change. Oscilloscope trace of test of TESLA cavity. Coupler interlock electronics built and provided by LAL. All preliminary tests to be completed in September and then CEA tuner will be installed.

WP – 11 Diagnostics Task 11.1 Beam Position Monitor -new feed-through design ⃗ more robust -Improved distinction between monopole and dipole modes. -BPM easier to clean to SC requirements -Signal processing electronics designed. Schedule

Task 11.2 Beam emittance monitor Have made diffraction screens. Vacuum assembly installed on bypass line of TTF. Optical system design fixed. Construction started.Electronic control in progress. Data acquisition PC ordered.
