2. General Facts On Korea Korea is a peninsula in Asia.
It has been divided into two parts, South Korea and North Korea, since 1948.
The earliest known Korean state was old Choson, which is now north west Korea.
Korea split up into kingdoms conquered by the Chinese.
One of the most powerful kingdoms was Koguryo. It controlled most of Korea in the 5th century.
Buddhism appeared in Korea during the 4th century and became more common towards the 6th century.
Buddhism culture was the basis of growth in Korea this period of time.
