EVERYONE NEEDS TO COPY THESE DOWN! Continue on same warm up page. 1.Convert 100 mph to feet per second (5280 ft = 1 mile) 2.John rode 2 kilometers on his bike. Sally rode 3000 meters on her bike. Who rode the farthest and how much farther did they ride? (answer in km; 1000 m = 1 km)

Review of Symbols Less Than: ____________Greater Than: _______________ Less Than or Equal To: _________Greater Than or Equal To: _________

Solving Linear Inequalities

Solving Systems of Linear Inequalities To solve a system of inequalities, you must find the ordered pairs that satisfy all inequalities. One way to do this is to graph the inequalities on the same coordinate plane. The intersection of the graphs contains the points which satisfy all the inequalities in the problem. If the graphs of the inequalities do not intersect, then the system has no solution.

ACED.3: REPRESENTING CONSTRAINTS BY INEQUALITIES & BY SYSTEMS OF INEQUALITIES August 25 th, 2014

Example 1 Solve: Twice a number plus 5 is less than 7

Example 2 Grace wants to buy some new clothes, but she cannot afford more than $75 before the sales tax is added. The blouses she wants are priced $17 each and the pants she wants are priced $25 each. Which inequality could be used to determine b, the number of blouses, and p, the number of pants Grace can afford?

Part 1 The B & W Leather Company wants to add handmade belts and wallets to its product line. Each belt nets $18 in profit and each wallet nets $12 in profit. Write an inequality to represent how many belts and wallets they would need to produce to make at least $324.

Part 2 The machine they use to make the belts and wallets can make at most 22 total items. Write an inequality to represent how many belts and wallets B & W Leather Company can make total.

Part 3 How many belts and wallets can they make to maximize their profit?
