2 My name is Pam Stutzman and I am excited to begin this new year with your child! I grew up in Southern California and went to college at the University of La Verne. This will be my 30 year of teaching, with 26 of those years spent here at Lu Sutton. I have three children and am proud to say that they all attended our wonderful school as well.

4 My teaching partner is Michelle Drake She grew up in Dayton, Ohio Attended college at Denison University and received a Masters Degree from University of San Francisco. She and her husband live in Novato with their “child” “BOGEY.”

I can show my work in many ways. I can use math tools and explain why I used them. I can work carefully and check my work. I can use what I know to solve new problems. I can solve problems by looking for rules and patterns.

11 Lucy Calkins Units of Study Students will write informational text, narrative, historical fiction and opinion/argument pieces with complexity and sophistication Fosters high-level thinking where students synthesize, analyze, and critique Teaching the writer, not necessarily the writing

12 This year we continue to implemnt the Next Generation Science Standards. The students will learn about the following: Earth’s System and Place in the Universe Molecules and Organisms Energy Waves and their applications in technology

13 California History and Geography The Land of California Early People in California – Missions and the Rancho Eras Early History - Gold Rush and Westward Movement Early Statehood - Growth and Development Since 1850 California Government

14 Students will be required to read for 30 minutes each night and complete goal based math practice. All assignments will be written in your child’s planner. Parents need to check and sign the planner every night.
