3 New Hampshire Demographics Population of New Hampshire: 1,324,575 residents (approximately 44% rural) 176 School Districts (including single town, cooperative and districts not operating schools) 316 elementary schools; 71 middle schools; 81senior high schools;11 charter schools 219,000 students (88.4 % public;0.3% charter; 4,800 homeschooled students) 10,242 ( public two-four year college students) 13,145 career and technical

4 Current Activities Virtual Learning Academy Digital Portfolios Building Capacity to Manage on-line PD Centers Open-source movement (ex: Moodle and Mahara) Coordinated state-wide planning efforts pre-k-16 to support access robust high-speed broadband access Leveraging E-Rate and other federal, state and local funding sources for purchasing system DOE continued support for classroom technology mini- grants to continually build a progression model of technology in learning and teaching.
