15 Skills The Government’s overall ambition to achieve 3 million apprenticeship starts in this Parliament. The new trailblazer apprenticeships are employer led and focus on training that is critical for success in Your industry. 15

16 Skills Horticulture is the biggest employer in the farming: How can the sector increase its apprenticeships? Do you have scope for taking on some apprentices? 17 Agri-Tech 77 Agri-Tech Catalyst projects, worth £60m (£40m from government, £20m from industry): controlling crop pests, livestock disease, and developing new precision farming technology. £10 million of funding is being contributed by DFID to support the transfer of technology and new products to developing countries 17

18 R & D Research and Development to underpin competitive, profitable and sustainable production of arable and horticultural crops. Work in partnership with other funders and stakeholders (UK, EU and international), to ensure translation of research and innovation into practice.
