Solving Equations
2
GOAL: To Be Able To Solve Equations in a systematic manner Solving Equations: – The goal is to get one of the variables (the one we’re interested in) on its own on one side of the equals sign. – We do this by using our mathematical operations (+, -, x, ÷). – THERE IS NO MAGIC!!!!

GOAL: To Be Able To Solve Equations in a systematic manner – Gather all terms that include the variable you are interested in on one side of the equation. – Move everything else to the other side. – Use the following 5 steps to move terms:
4
GOAL: To Be Able To Solve Equations in a systematic manner 1)Always remember what your Goal is and work towards it. 2)Identify the term you want to move. 3)Identify which operation it is involved in.** 4)Use the opposite operation to move it to the other side. 5)Do the same thing to both sides. Whatever you do to one side of an equation you MUST do to the other side.

GOAL: To Be Able To Solve Equations in a systematic manner Continue moving terms until you have accomplished your Goal. – What was your goal again??

GOAL: To Be Able To Solve Equations in a systematic manner Things to be aware of: – The bottom of a fraction is involved in division – The top of a fraction is involved in multiplication – Square Root is the opposite of squaring
