Carnivores Animals that eat other animals or meat 2 types: predators: kill & eat other animals scavengers: eat animals that are already dead Ex) vultures Could be secondary or tertiary consumers Could be top predators

Decomposers Part of consumers Use O 2 to decompose by decomposition aerobic process Eat wastes & dead organisms & decompose or break down the wastes & dead material into simple materials like CO 2 & nitrogen compounds recycle into the air or soil! Function at all levels of a food chain

Homework Discuss what types of consumers are found in a balanced aquarium. In addition, discuss what abiotic & biotic factors are present in an aquarium. Does any recycling take place in an aquarium? Is this an ecosystem?
