30 November 2006CATS Report2 Topics Overview Status Capabilities Deployment

30 November 2006CATS Report3 Overview This effort was initiated earlier this year to determine whether CATS could be utilized beyond the Cassini project for tracking deliveries. Testing was performed with Phoenix and Geosciences. –CATS was found to be suitable as-is, for use with Phoenix deliverables. The operational instance of CATS is hosted by the Engineering Node. This effort is related to the following FY 2007 Award Fee Criteria Item: –“Deliver CATS system for PHOENIX as a prototype for a more generic future system.” Long-term goals could include: –Evaluate CATS functionality and how it fits into PDS. –Map that functionality to PDS requirements (Level 3 and 4). –Consider expanding functionality to include tracking deliveries to NSSDC.

30 November 2006CATS Report4 Status Completed Activities –Installed and configured a test instance. (Apr - May 2006) –Tested with Phoenix and Geosciences staff. (May - July 2006) –Held operational deployment planning teleconference. (Aug 2006) –Installed and configured operational instance. (Oct - Nov 2006) Configuration policy provided by Phoenix and Geosciences staff. The policy includes the mission duration, instrument information, scheduled deliveries with ranges and user roles. –Performed acceptance testing. (Nov 14) Application was available for testing November 14. Ready to go for Phoenix. Test entries just need to be erased.

30 November 2006CATS Report6 CATS Capabilities Track archive submissions from Instrument teams to the PDS –Data are tracked in CATS by standard data product id. –A set of data products have been identified for each instrument team. Report accurate archive status –Standard Report (Instrument team deliveries) –Delivery Gap Report (Time ranges not covered by deliveries) –Submission Report (Instrument team submissions) –Archive Status Report (Overview) Identify missing submissions –Utilizing the above reports. Remind teams of upcoming deliveries –Still investigating deployment of this feature.

30 November 2006CATS Report7 Deployment CATS is deployed as a Java-based web application packaged in a WAR file. The WAR file is installed on two load-balanced machines under existing Apache Tomcat Servers. The database supporting the application is installed under an existing Sybase DBMS. The CATS URL is: http://starbrite.jpl.nasa.gov/cats/http://starbrite.jpl.nasa.gov/cats/
