Promotion and Tenure Process Begins the first month of work. Meet with mentor(s)/DH Develop dossier: http://provost.utk.edu/wp- content/uploads/sites/10/2014/02/2012- faculty_evaluation_manual.pdf Dossier updated/presented each year in retention review. Enhanced Retention Review should give constructive feedback in 3 rd /4 th year.

Promotion and Tenure Process By the end of the probationary period, the faculty member should be fine tuning the dossier. Along with mentor/departmental faculty, provide DH with list of outside reviewers. (July/August) Complete/update dossier and supporting materials. (mid October)

Promotion and Tenure Process Departmental process to be completed between Oct 20-Dec 15. Submit dossier to Departmental Review Committee 2 weeks prior to DRC meeting. (mid November) DRC sends recommendation to candidate and DH. (early December) Dissenting statements may be added to dossier.

Promotion and Tenure Process Dossier & supporting material uploaded to Sharepoint. (Dec 16) DH reviews, sends recommendation to P&T committee. (Dec 18) Dissenting statements may be added to dossier. (Jan 4) P&T committee sends recommendation to the dean(s), DH, and candidate. (Feb 5) Dissenting statements may be added to dossier. (Feb 19)

Promotion and Tenure Process Dean(s) send recommendation to chancellor, candidate, DRC and DH. (Mar 04) Dissenting statements may be added to dossier. (Mar 18) Chancellor sends recommendation to President, who forwards a recommendation to the BOT. (May 06)

Promotion and Tenure Process Chancellor’s recommendation is forwarded to the dean(s), who forward the recommendation to the P&T committee, candidate, and DH. DH forwards recommendation to the DRC. Dissenting statements may be added to dossier. (May20)
