2 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 2 Purpose The purpose of this Webcast is to prepare local educational agency (LEA) CAASPP coordinators and test site coordinators for effective implementation of student accessibility supports for the CAASPP summative assessments.

6 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 6 New for 2015–16 Changes to the Test Operation Management System (TOMS): Student test settings must be entered for 2015–16, as student test settings from 2014–15 will not be retained Individualized education program (IEP) / Section 504 plan indicators must be set in the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) to access accommodations test setting in TOMS –For students with an IEP, the Primary Disability code must also be set in CALPADS to access accommodations test setting in TOMS

7 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 7 For the new California Alternate Assessment (CAA): Administered one-on-one by Test Examiner Student may have any instructional support specified in their IEP Most embedded Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations are available for CAA (Few embedded resources not available) New for 2015–16

16 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 16 Unlisted Resources The LEA CAASPP coordinator or the CAASPP test site coordinator shall make the request on behalf of the LEA a minimum of ten business days prior to the student’s first day of CAASPP testing. The CDE shall respond to the request within four business days from the date of the electronic transmission.

19 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 19 Unlisted Resources Student has IEP/504 but not in TOMS –LEA Coordinator updates student information in CALPADS –CALPADS updates TOMS within 24–48 hours –LEA Coordinator adds accommodations in TOMS student test settings in the morning and the accommodations will available for testing that afternoon

Graphic organizer How resource will be used by the student? Student associates different shapes with different questions to help elicit responses which then help him organize it for an essay—introductory, body, conclusion. He uses it daily in classroom. Copy of organizer will be sent. Why this unlisted resource is necessary? Student is not able to focus without this support to generate text that is on topic.

30 Measuring the Power of Learning.™ CAASPP Accessibility and Accommodations 30 Unlisted Resources Once submitted, the CDE and Requestor will receive a single e-mail with all submitted request(s) for Unlisted Resources that will also include the Case Number for the Unlisted Resources If providing additional documentation to unlisted request, use the assigned Case Number in subject line and send to ACCESSIBILITY@cde.ca.gov.
