1 Laws of Exponents Whenever we have variables which contain exponents and have the same base, we can do certain mathematical operations to them. Those operations are called the “Laws of Exponents” b x b = basex = exponent

2 Laws of Exponents For every number (except zero), if you raise it to the zero power, it equals one A number raised to a negative exponent must be “flipped”.

6 Laws of Exponents Simple multiplication A power raised to a power Since the exponent is outside the parenthesis, it applied to EVERYTHING inside the parenthesis

7 Laws of Exponents When dividing, if the base is the same, you subtract the exponents
