2 Numeration I have six digits. My hundred-thousands digit is 1 less than my ones digit, 8 greater than my thousands digit, twice my tens digit and 4 times my hundreds digit. My ten-thousands digit is 0. What number am I? Problem 1

3 Three in a Row The sum of three consecutive numbers is 600. What is the least of these three numbers? Problem 2

4 Show Patterns The sixth grade has five days to sell tickets to a talent show. The students predict that each day they will sell 10 fewer tickets than the day before. How many must they sell the first day if they want to sell 200 tickets in all? Problem 3

5 Win, Lose or Tie? The Blue Skies won 17 more games than they lost. They played 52 games in all and had 3 ties. How many games did they lose? Problem 4

6 Finding Numbers I am thinking of two whole numbers. When I add them, their sum is 123. When I subtract the lesser number from the greater number, their difference is 45. What are my numbers? Problem 5

7 What Am I? First 8 is added to me, then I am multiplied by 6. Then 40 is subtracted from me. Finally, I am divided by 10. The result is 11. What number am I? Problem 7

8 Making Change Describe all the different ways you can make 50 cents using quarters, nickels or dimes. Problem 8

9 Mix and Measure Determine how you could use a 5L jar and a 7L jar to measure and hold 8L of water. Problem 6

10 The Rope A rope is 64 m long cut into 3 pieces. The second piece is 3 times as long as the first piece. The third piece is 4 times as long as the second piece. Find the length of each piece of rope. Problem 9

11 Mystery Numbers The sum of two whole numbers is 63. The difference between the numbers is less than 10. Find all possible pairs. Problem 10

12 Ages Jack was born on February 3, The same day, Jacks’ father celebrated his 30th birthday. In what year will Jack’s age be ½ of his father’s age? Problem 11

13 Shopping Spree Gregory, Samantha and Pedro went shopping. Gregory and Samantha together spent a total of $17. Samantha and Pedro together spent a total of $20. Gregory and Pedro together spent a total of $21. How much did each person spend? Problem 12

14 Life Goes On Jenny lived half of her life in Kamloops and one third of her life in Niagara Falls. She then moved to Truro. If she has lived in Truro for four years, how old is Jenny now? Problem 13
