Day Three: Objectives To discuss outcomes of the Graffiti exercise. To learn how to pitch an idea to different audiences. To learn steps to prepare for the creation of you very-own success story.

Before you Get Started: Before you get started ask: Who is your audience? What is the goal of the story? Will the story be used for a chance meeting or a formal request for information? Is the story timely?

Write for your Reader not Yourself Always show benefit Memorable fact/truth Emotional hook Paint a picture Sense of immediacy The ASK **All from the perspective of your audience

One-Page Success Story Powerful way to catch the attention of policy makers, funders etc. Polished document that speaks to the heart of your program Uses pictures to complete the story Include partner logos Includes your contact information

Format of a One-pager Title- First opportunity to grab the attention of your reader Define the Issue-clearly identify it Program Description-spark their interest Impact Statement-”what does this all mean?” Action Suggestions-tell them what they can do Contact Information

Task #3 Begin creating a one-pager Use your elevator story, titles, audience and other considerations to begin formulating Look at examples in the workbook for further guidance
