Hades loved Persephone. So Hades kidnapped her and brought her to the underworld.
Enraged, Demeter cursed the land with a famine. Zeus begged her to stop, but she wouldn’t.
Hades made Persephone eat a pomegranate seed.
Persephone returned to her mother, but didn’t stay long.
Demeter lifted the curse and Persephone was demanded to stay with her mom 2/3 of the year.

Staff- Drove the dead into the underworld
