6 Benefits to Developing “One Service Plan" Benefits to the Child ○ The Child will sense the partnership and get consistent answers from everyone on the team. ○ Caregiver knows all medical history ○ Personality traits – Caregiver can learn routines from Parents ○ Caregiver understands Child’s triggers & what comforts the Child ○ What the Child calls Parents & Caregivers? Who is the Child close to? Pets? Friends? ○ Who is Family? Defined by the Child ○ Better normalcy for the Child (sports, activities) ○ Time to sustain bond (depending on Child’s age) ○ Pictures for the Child ○ Child needs to hear Parent says it’s ok you are here ○ More communication – Child – Parents, Caregiver, Worker ○ More contact 6

7 Benefits to Developing “One Service Plan" Benefits to Parents ○ More communication with Child ○ More communication with Provider/Caregiver ○ Hope and motivation ○ Ability to be more involved with Child’s care Benefit to Foster Parent/ CPA ○ Raise the respect for everyone all around. ○ Less meetings/ better coordination ○ Useful tool ○ Less of a scavenger hunt ○ Elevation of Best Practices  Better Information sharing and coordination of time and resources for all- CPS, CASA, Family, Agency 7

8 Challenges  Collection of evidence on the Parent  Geographic distance of the placement – distance between Parents and Child  Myth busting about Parents are “bad” or Foster Parents are “bad”  Support to Parents that they have to sit in a meeting with all these people who may judge them  If Children move between Providers  If Caseworker changes  Violence – ensuring safety  Pre-service training for Foster Parents is very focused on the Child – how do we include the needs of the Parent as well.  Transition of services and goals; service types when there is placement changes. Goals remain the same but the strategies will be updated.  IMPACT  Legal plan review timelines versus Minimum Standards  Attorneys agreeing for their clients to participate in the meeting (especially if there are criminal charges)  Who is at the table? Multiple Providers for Parents/Children  Author of the plan/Owner of the plan  Confidentiality – HIPPA concerns over using Skype  What is the format of the combined plan?  Length of time to review  Logistics of the meeting Willing to look at what kind of waivers necessary to have meeting in the Foster Parent home – Minimum Standards related to this  Need for buy in from 300+ Providers  Technology / data bases used by the Providers 8
