TIPS FOR SUCCESS 1.Get started EARLY Criteria varies for different scholarships Most applications require: Application Personal Essay References Transcripts / Record of grades

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 2. Do you have a SIN?? Get one!! You need this to apply 3. Make sure you fit the criteria!

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 4. Pay Attention to deadlines! “Received by” has to be in their hands by that date “Postmarked by” has to be mailed by that date

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 5. Transcripts Don’t necessarily need official copies New MyEDBC currently can’t print them

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 6. Personal Essay What will make yours stand out? Include topics such as influences, interests & activities, leadership, volunteer work, plans for post- secondary BUT… Keep it brief

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 7. Brag Sheet Make sure it accurately portrays your strengths and accomplishments Find it here

TIPS FOR SUCCESS 8. References Choose wisely Ask Early (MINIMUM two weeks) Give Thanks (a card at the VERY least )
