Validation of SCIAMACHY has been difficult, Products do not yet meet our expectations, improvement is rather slow, and new satellite instruments are coming up. But … SCIAMACHY will continue performing measurements for ~5-10 years Products with good scientific value will come out We will have 5-10 years of global data with known and good quality in the end You can benefit from this dataset, especially in combination with other ENVISAT and EOS-AURA instruments. But we need your help!

In spite of this, we ask you to: Use the data in scientific applications, critically assess their quality for your purpose, and give feedback to product developers. In addition we should all: Convince funding agencies, as individuals and as a group, that validation has not finished, it only just started
