4 Lyrics Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, Gotta get down to it Soldiers are cutting us down What if you knew her And found her dead on the ground How can you run when you know? Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, Four dead in Ohio. Gotta get down to it Soldiers are cutting us down Should have been done long ago. What if you knew her And found her dead on the ground How can you run when you know? Gotta get down to it Soldiers are cutting us down Should have been done long ago. What if you knew her And found her dead on the ground How can you run when you know? Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, Four dead in Ohio.

5 The Tet Offensive The Tet Offensive In 1968, the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong launched a massive campaign called the Tet Offensive. U.S. public support for the war plummeted. Morale among U.S. troops also hit an all‐time low, manifesting itself tragically in the 1968 My Lai Massacre, in which frustrated U.S. soldiers killed hundreds of unarmed Vietnamese civilians in a small village.

6 The Anti-War Movement Meanwhile, the antiwar movement within the United States gained momentum as student protesters, countercultural hippies, and even many mainstream Americans denounced the war. Protests against the war and the selective service system ‐‐ military draft ‐‐ grew increasingly violent, resulting in police brutality outside the Democratic National Convention in 1968.
