5 What is a program? What are usually included in a program? Skills building 1: understanding a programme

6 A programme is a plan of activities to be done or things to be achieved. A programme usually includes: ◆ Date Dates in a progamme are usually presented in short form to save space. For example: 1st January → 3rd September → 1st Jan /1 Jan 3rd Sept/3 Sept

7 ◆ Day Days refer to days in a week. They can also be presented in short form. For example: Sunday → Thursday → Sun Thur

8 ◆ Time Time can be presented in several ways: 9 a.m./09.00 4 p.m./16.00 8.50 a.m./08.50 6.45 p.m./18.45 ◆ Place There are many places for events or activities. For example: assembly hall meeting room 7th floor, Park Hotel

9 ◆ Event/ activity Events or activities are the most important part of a programme. For example : speech on Chinese history art festival sports meeting

24 1. What is a notice? A notice is a piece of paper which gives information before something is going to happen. It’s usually put in a public place.

25 2. What should we pay attention to when we are writing a notice? include the most important information, such as time, dates, events and person who is giving the notice only include the necessary information make your notice clear and attractive
