Let’s Take a Look… CROWNWeb – What to Expect

What Is Multi-Factor? CROWNWeb – What to Expect How can we define “Multi-Factor”? “Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security system in which more than one forms of authentication are [used] to verify [a user’s identification]. In contrast, single-factor authentication involves only a user ID and a password.” - www.techtarget.com

This Looks Familiar… CROWNWeb – What to Expect You may have seen some form of MFA in the following places:  Online Banking (choose your custom image)  ATMs (present your magnetic card)  Telephones (receive a call- back with a code)  Biometrics (fingerprints, retina scans)

MFA and CROWNWeb CROWNWeb – What to Expect CROWNWeb’s sign-in technology must adhere to federal guidelines for computer systems:  QualityNet System Security Policy (11/09)  5.3.3.2 - User Identification and Authentication - Automated IA mechanisms shall be in place and supporting procedures shall be developed, documented, and implemented effectively to enable unique identification and authentication of individual users (or processes acting in behalf of users) of QualityNet information systems. Authentication of user identities is accomplished through the use of passwords, tokens, biometrics, or in the case of multi-factor authentication, some combination therein. 23 What Does This Mean? CROWNWeb – What to Expect CROWNWeb and User Accounts will be updated to enable the implementation of MFA:  Information on QIPS Forms  Required Information for MFA  Education and Communication on MFA Policies

CROWNWeb and Bundling CROWNWeb – What to Expect In the near future… CROWNWeb – Most current outcome data Payment partially linked to outcomes CMS will track outcomes through CROWNWeb
