Please do not search for European Academy !!! We owe it to the founders that they have protected both „Academia Europaea“ and „The Academy of Europe“ … but European Academy as such is an unproteced term.

9 You will get a PDF form whose first part is shown below. Before filling out anything please save that form under e.g. the surname of your candidate on your computer. After filling out some fields, you can always interrupt, but don‘t forget to save what you have done!

10 (Note: So far we have only specified the section of the candidate, so let us fill out the page below, a sample shown on next page)

11 (an example how to fill out the page)

12 1.12 Honours and Awards (Only mention major awards; max. 20; do not mention best paper awards or fellowships that one gets if one just pays a membership fee; list one per line, preceded by the year when award was obtained, last awards first). The awards should include for example, election to National Academies (category of membership/fellowship); major prizes (not normal research grants) and similar honours that recognise academic performance; honorary degrees. Major ERC awards can be cited. Obligatory Not obligatory sample! Note: I have not filled in any awards in this sample (they are not obligatory, but prestigous awards strengthen the case of the nominee of course very much!)

13 Don‘t forget this! Webpage if rich in information is OK, HQ and AE-INFO and evaluators prefer a coherent short CV

14 This is the most essential part of form (in addition to the necessary rudimentary personal information) Optional

15 This is a simplified authorization form. Note that two ordinary members must propose a candidate (this exludes foreign members) and one must be in a country different from the one of the candidate.

16 The further procedure is explained at the bottom of the nomination form: Please make sure to store the form with the information you have filled out on your computer! Once the nominators have filled out all obligatory fields (those with an *)and are satisfied with the nomination, the first nominator should mail it as attachment to the address nominations@ae-info.orgnominations@ae-info.org When the mail arrives, the forms are checked by a program for completeness. If obligatory fields are missing, or are too short or too long, the sender will receive a list of items that still have to be changed. If the form is complete, it will be automatically (a) sent to the section chair and (b) it will be automatically uploaded into http://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/Forums/Nominations to which authorized members have access.

17 (Continued…) If a nomination also concerns another section, let the section chair know: (s)he can communicate with the chair of the other section concerned. If after consultation it is decided to shift the nomination from one section to another section, office@ae-info.org should be contacted to carry out this shift. Nominations can be submitted using above form between Oct.1, 2011 and April 30, 2012. Ranked lists of all candidates in their section have to be submitted to the Chair of the Nomination Committee and the Executive Secretary by June 15, 2012. Access to a nomination is authorized for: --- the two nominators --- all section committee members of the section involved --- all nomination committee members, board members, the president and the executive secretary after May 1, 2012. All nominations can be printed out as is in new system, but you can also use the button „ „Show printer-friendly version“.“ PDFs of all nominations are sent to HQ first half of May 2012 if HQ wants to keep up this procedure.
