1 The Redeemer Judges and Saves
Exodus 11:4-12:32 GOD’s righteous judgement is coming to everyone without distinction, but salvation is offered through the sacrifice of a perfect substitute.. The Angel of Death passed over the houses of Israel that were obedient to the command of Moses and prepared the ‘sacrificial lamb’ and allowed the blood of the lamb to mark them as protected from the death of GOD’s Wrath.

2 The ‘Passover’ was an ‘Act of Faith’ that allowed GOD to show his GRACE on behalf of the faithful, In order to prevent the consequences of lack of Faith. The Nation Israel must: Have FAITH the Passover elements will result in the application of GOD’s Grace BELIEVE that GOD will save them from judgement Continue in the Ordinance of Passover, until GOD provides the Lamb that will ‘take away the Sins of the World’ THE PASSOVER POINTS TO JESUS

3 GOD warns of impending judgment
Exodus 11:4-8 “…every firstborn male in the land of Egypt will die..” The plagues have ravaged Egypt, Pharaoh has ‘hardened his heart’, and refused to let the nation Israel leave Egypt. “Israel had cried to God for deliverance (2:23), they had cried in vain to pharaoh in their anguish (5:15), Now it is the Egyptians who will ‘cry in anguish’ at God’s judgement”. R. Allen Coe

4 Notice what GOD told Moses way back in Chapter 4, while he was still in Midia,
“Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘THUS SAYS THE LORD, Israel is My son, My firstborn. 23 So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn.’” Exodus 4:22 Why do you think GOD gave pharaoh advance warning of the coming plague ….

5 GOD offers protection through a perfect sacrifice….Exodus 12:1-13
The ultimate consequence for SIN is DEATH. The blood of the sacrificial lamb protected those in the house. The sacrifice of the blood of JESUS brings Salvation from the penalty of Sin.

6 The ultimate consequence for SIN is DEATH.
The nation Israel was reminded by the ordinance of the Passover to remember and teach their children of the great acts of GOD. They were to be fully dressed and ready for the call of God, the meal was symbolic: the bitter herbs reminded them of their SIN and the sacrifice of a Perfect Lamb that they were delivered from the wrath of GOD and given new life…! 1 cor.5:7, Hebrews 9:14

7 Question: Why was it important that the ‘Sacrificial Lamb’ be spotless? What did being spotless signify? The blood on the door was a public statement for all to see. How does this influence the way we think of our Christian faith…?

8 God’s judgment is severe, and His mercy is great Exodus 12:29-32
Through the 10th Plague, God turned Evil on it’s head, and Pharaoh released the Nation Israel. He did what Moses asked through the authority of GOD…He ‘Let My People Go…..!!

9 HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND TO THE STORY OF THE PASSOVER…?
True Freedom comes in Jesus Christ , the Lamb of GOD that takes away the Sins of the World. John 1:29 We must Worship The Lamb. (Rev. 5:11-14 We must tell the world about the Lamb. What are some of the ways we can be a light to the nations while proclaiming the glory of the Lamb…?

10 CHRIST CONNECTION: Just as a spotless lamb was sacrificed in order to spare God’s people from his judgment, so also Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb who was sacrificed in order to protect us from God’s wrath.
