 Childhood cancer patients can stay at hospitals for months at a time. It is difficult for families to keep their rooms from becoming stale, plain and lonely.  "Send-a-Smile" greetings can add a dash of color and happiness to those dull rooms.  Greetings are hand crafted cards with messages of happy wishes created by perfect strangers who care. The greetings are not focused on the patient’s sickness and to hope for a good recovery, but on making a child feel special by wishing they have a great day.

The greetings should be fun upbeat greetings. You could add…  A joke  A riddle with the answer on the back  A short poem or rhyme Just make it fun!

Incredible, Sweet, One-of-a-kind, Hard-to-beat, amazing, fun, extraordinary, great… Just a few things that describe you and how I hope your day will be. Have a great day! I sent this sunshine your way to say… I hope you have a great day! Just buzzing by…(picture of a bee) To say Hi and Have a great day! Sending a little sunshine your way To brighten up the rest of your day! Do you know what day it is??? Me either… But I hope you have a good one! What do you feed a teddy bear? Nothing, he’s already stuffed! Sending you a smile to say Have a great day!

 To make the greeting card extra special, add a touch of personality by literally inserting yourself in the card—a flat version.  Print it, decorate it, and draw a picture of yourself on its face so the child receiving the card knows its creator and has a new friend.  Use the Flat Friend Girl or Flat Friend Boy Template provided by your teacher.Flat Friend Girl Flat Friend Boy

 Before starting, wash hands thoroughly.  Please do no write any personal information more than your first name. No last names, addresses, phone numbers, etc.  Only non-toxic supplies are to be used while making cards.  Sand, glitter, tempera paint, and glued items are NOT allowed. THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOUR GREETING AWESOME!!
