Decision 2016: Public Policy Project By: Chealsy Gonzalez Sasha Garcia Tanisha Tayie Rebeca Paredes

Ben Carson -Decrease power hungry unions shaking down corporations -Repeal Obama Care: “We The People” -Taxes: get rid of deductions equal rates Q: what do you say to that person who is making $30,000 or $40,000 and maybe paying an effective tax rate of 5 percent or 10 percent, basically, you're saying you're going to get a tax increase. CARSON: I say the thing that is really impacting that person making $30,000 or $40,000 is all of the regulations that we're coming up with. Every single regulation costs us in terms of goods and services. It increases the price of everything. Who gets hit by that the most? The people in the lower economic brackets. That's what we need to be concentrating on. Those are things that are driving income gap

Donald Trump Jobs: Doesn’t want to raise minimum wage; it makes us non-competitive. Doesn’t want to raise minimum wage, but create more opportunities. Has relevant experience by creating jobs and assets Take jobs back from foreign countries to lower unemployment Real unemployment rate is 20%; don't believe 5.6%. Raising business tax causes businesses to move jobs overseas. Foreign companies are taking jobs from US.

Donald Trump (Cont.) Workers: Trump wants to simplify and lower individual and corporate rates. He proposes lowering individual tax rates to 10%, 20% and 25%, and getting rid of all deductions except those for charitable deductions and mortgage interest. He wants to eliminate the estate tax, the alternative minimum tax and the marriage penalty. On the corporate side, he supports lowering the tax rate to 15%. Trump’s plan loses more revenue than other Republican proposals, but proposals always get changed when they are put through the legislative wringer.

Continuation of Trump... Taxes: reducing individual income brackets to just four, eliminating deductions and loopholes for the rich and removing income taxes altogether for the lowest- earning Americans. would cut the seven current rates used to tax individual income to just four: 25 percent, 20 percent, 10 percent and zero

Bernie Sanders -he wants to create more well paying jobs * he would increase minimum wage so every working American can live a life rather than fighting to survive -wants to fix the tax code because the rich are not paying their fare share making it difficult to fund for programs - wants to improve social saftey net (prevents individuals from falling into poverty) -* unemployment benefit, healthcare, homeless shelter, welfare and friendly society

Hillary Clinton -she wants to boost the economy by cutting tax to the middle class and small business -wants to help women enter the workforce by requiring business to pay for family leave and give sick days all.

Marco Rubio Jobs: ★ Jobs: Raising minimum wage would replace people with machines. ★ Give wage subsidies rather than raise minimum wage. (adjust the taxes not raise them) ★ Voted against Paycheck Fairness Act (equal pay for women). ★ Ok to extend unemployment if it's paid for. ★ Grow the middle class; don't grow the government. ★ Workers:outdated tax code encourages outsourcing jobs.

Marco Rubio cont... ★ Workers:outdated tax code encourages outsourcing jobs. ★ axpayers, not new taxes. ★ No one should pay higher taxes in recession, not even top 2%. ★ Extend Bush tax cuts, even for high earners. not taxing wealthy ★ Address market uncertainty by making Bush cuts permanent (not taxing wealthy more). ★ Proposed to replace property taxes with state sales tax. ★ Pledged to never raise taxes as state rep. ★ Capital gains tax is double taxation. ★ Simplify our tax code; reduce the tax burden. ★ Supports flat-rate federal tax; opposes increased tax rates. ★ Adopt a single-rate tax system. ★ Repeal tax hikes in capital gains and death tax. ★ Supports the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. ★ Taxes:We borrow from countries that dislike us. ★ Tax, borrow, & spend is not the way out of the recession. ★ Real problem is $1T deficit each year since 2009. ★ Oppose Obama stimulus package; it's bad for America. ★ Support balanced budget amendment and line-item veto. ★ Demand a Balanced Budget amendment. ★ Disapprove of increasing the debt limit.

Marco Rubio cont... Workers: Marco wants the doesn’t want the people to pay more taxes. He wants to expand the middle class so that there are more people to pay for the taxes. He wants a small government, as do majority of republicans. Doesn’t support obama care and wants to get rid of it. Wants to limit the deficit spending and other spending in the country. Doesn’t want anyone to pay more than want they have to during a recession. Wants to help the people with their money. He wants them to spend their money wisely and doesn’t want to tax many. Marco wants to keep some of the taxes just the way they are and wants to treat each and every person equally when it comes to taxing.
