2 Unit Standards Standard 1: Students will concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health. Standard 3: Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information, products, and services to enhance health. Standard 4: Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks. Standard 5: Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health. Standard 7: Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks.

3 Unit Objectives LESSON 1 Motor (Movement): Students will be able to safely move around the room during the HIV simulation activity. Cognitive (Mind): Students will be able to define HIV and AIDS. Students will be able to correctly identify common myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. Students will be able to understand how the HIV virus spreads and how it can spread so quickly. Affective (Social): Students will be able to respectfully and effectively communicate with their peers during the HIV simulation activity. LESSON 2 Motor (Movement): Students will be able to safely move around the room during the “Gallery Wall” activity. Cognitive (Mind): Students will be able to identify key terms in the book. Students will be able to use their book as a resource to help them find information about HIV. Affective (Social): Students will be able to respectfully and effectively communicate with their peers during the “Gallery Wall” activity. LESSON 3 Motor (Movement): N/A Cognitive (Mind): Students will be able to identify why it is important to get HIV and STD tests. Students will be able to identify ways to prevent getting HIV. Students will be able to name different tests you can have done for HIV. Students will be able to identify treatments for HIV. Affective (Social): Students will be able communicate effectively while working in teams during the Jeopardy game.
