5. Food Insecurity (p.18) Results: 345 of 828 = 42% or 4 in 10 Arlingtonians in the $60,000 and under income group 2010 US Census: 75,000 Arlingtonians fall in the income category of $60,000 or less. 42% of 75,000 = 31,500 31,500 individuals in Arlington County experience food insecurity

Children (p.22-23) 828 households responded 157 = at least one child in their home 46 of 157 (29%) = food insecurity experienced by at least one child Examples of questions answered that indicate child food insecurity: – In the last 12 months, did you ever cut the size of your meal or did your children skip meals because there wasn’t enough money for food? – In the last 12 months, did your children ever not eat for a whole day because there wasn’t enough money for food?
