1 Good Morning! Friday, 12/10 Your “Modeling Transpiration” lab was scheduled to be turned in today. Hang on to them until Tuesday, I will collect them when I return (lucky ducks if you did not get it finished!).

2  Collect your data & make observations.  Don’t forget to water your plants!!  Adding water is a control variable you should be considering. Make sure you add the same amount of water to each of your plants.

3 3-D LEAF MODEL  5 th period – Take out your 3- D leaf model that you have completed so far.  6 th period – pick up the cut outs to make a 3-D model of a leaf.

4 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS  Cut out the leaves on both pieces of paper. You should have 2 leaves:  Wait to cut out the arrows !

5  Set the leaves on top of each other so it looks like 1 leaf.  Fold over the top leaf at a diagonal 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

6  Draw a line on the leaf where the top leaf is folded over 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

7  Glue the two leaves together at the bottom of the leaf (put glue ONLY below the diagonal line you drew) 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS Glue Here Glue

8  Draw in the veins on the outside of the leaf and label. 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

9  Open the leaf and draw the inside: 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

10  Color and label all the parts: 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

12  Label your arrows:  2 of them SUN  2 of them WATER  2 of them SUGAR  2 of them CO 2 (carbon dioxide)  1 of them O 2 (oxygen) 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

13  Color your arrows  SUN = yellow  WATER = blue  SUGAR = pink  CO 2 = orange  O 2 = purple  Cut your arrows out 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

14  Add 4 arrows to the top of your leaf: 1. CO 2 2. SUN 3. SUGAR (flows through the veins) 4. WATER (flows through the veins) 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

15  Add 5 arrows to the inside of your leaf: 1. SUGAR (flows through the phloem) 2. WATER (flows through the xylem) 3. SUN (enters into the chloroplasts) 4. O 2 (exits through stomata) 5. CO 2 (enters through stomata) 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

16  Notice how the oxygen and carbon dioxide arrows are going through a stomata in the dermal tissue of the leaf?  If you need help with this, have Mrs. C or Mrs. L help you make those cuts. 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

17  Write your name on the back of your leaf.  Hang onto it until next class – I want to see them! 3-D LEAF INSTRUCTIONS

18 PASS BACK PAPERS  When you finish, ask the sub if you can help pass back papers to the rest of the class.  Organize your papers in your binders  MEANING – put them in the correct divider and hook them into the rings of your binder!!!  We will be doing a “ shake test ” soon!!
