4 2300 B.C.  Sargon, ruler of Akkad, invaded Sumer 1790 B.C.  Hammurabi, king of Babylon, invaded Mesopotamia. (H’s Code: “Eye for an eye”) 1400 B.C.  Hittites invaded Mesopotamia

5 1100 B.C.  Assyrians expanded across Mesopotamia (Most feared warriors) 612 B.C.  Nebuchadnezzar revived Babylon (Persian Gulf to Mediterranean Sea) 539 B.C.  Babylon fell to the Persian armies of Cyrus the Great

6 Persian Empire stretched from Asia Minor to India. Darius (522-486 B.C.) –Provinces, laws, roads, common weights and measures Zoroaster (600 B.C.) –One god, Ahura Mazda Phoenicians  sea traders along the Mediterranean Sea
