2 Staff members were invited to nominate their students via UG project module leaders by submitting an abstract and support letter to PADUR panel. Associate Prof Digby Warren (CELT) Dr Sundus Tewfik (FLSC) – UG research project module leader Chianna Roberts (The Cass) Short listed students were invited to submit their posters by 16 th Dec 2014. PiP selection event was held on 20 th Jan 2015, students have presented their posters to the panel. 7 It was a great opportunity for students to create our own network meeting other university students and academics, here with university of Surrey team and RSC representative PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik

8 Participating students has become more confident and proactive, they did not just present their posters but they also visited other posters and talked to presenters. They were interested in others and they realised they have more to offer with their feedback than just being spectators PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik

9 They had the opportunity to defend their work, methodologies and their results. They were having professional debates with other experts PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik

10 The event gave students opportunity to meet professional body representatives and interacting with publishers PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik

11 Benefits to students Develops empowered, proactive, self-directed, confident and capable students Enhance awareness of students own learning process and assist them in their Personal Development Planning (PDP). The event gave students the opportunity to meet professional body representatives as well as interacting with publishers and academics. It cultivated students to form their own professional network It was truly multidisciplinary event gave opportunity for students to interact with other subject areas for example within LMU group we had journalism, psychology, sports chemistry biomedical science students have interacted and supported each other throughout the day. 14 Key Benefits To University Enhance the quality of student experience at institutional level The opportunity for the university’s undergrad students to attend a national conference, publish articles, the potential media stories, use of the achievements in marketing High impact course promotion achieved by relatively low costing (our students were very good ambassadors) We were alongside other universities already valuing UG research e.g. Nottingham, Warwick, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE etc. PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik

15 Future Activities of PADUR PADUR team will present the pilot study findings to wider university audience (talks scheduled during LMU L&T Conference [7 th July], LMU Staff development festival [2 nd july]) PADUR team would like to organise faculty specific meetings to talk to course leaders, project module leaders and project supervisors to disseminate the experience from he pilot PADUR team with help from participating tutors from pilot study will organise summer workshop and autumn workshop for potential students PADUR team promoting students to publish their work in journals as well as presenting at the live events PADUR team hopes that fudning can be secured via CELT with the support of course leaders PADUR, Dr Sundus Tewfik
