3 Structure in Poem/Songs
There is a word pattern (certain word order) Rhyme Repetition Meter But many don’t use rhyme, repetition, or meter, and are plainly written

4 The Giving Tree (excerpt) Where the Sidewalk Ends
Examples The Giving Tree (excerpt) Shil Silverstein Where the Sidewalk Ends Shil Silverstein Once there was a tree… and she loved a little boy. And everyday the little boy would come and he would gather her leaves and make them into crowns And play kings in the forest. There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends.

5 Endings Novels tend to end in cliffhangers to keep readers intrigued, or can be straight forward. Some songs and poetry tend to end in a reoccurring rhyme or chorus; however, there are some that do not.
