 An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced. Abortion as a term most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy, while spontaneous abortions are usually termed miscarragies.

 About 1.5 million American women choose to have abortions each year. 52% of them are younger than 25 years old: 32% are ages 20 to 24, and 20% are teenagers

 Not enough money to support the child  Child is unwanted  Teens get them because they are too young to raise a child  Were victims of incest or rape  Are influenced by partners or parents who want them to have an abortion  Think a baby would interfere with school or work

 Legal abortions are considered to be among the safest of all medical procedures. Abortions are much safer than giving birth.  A few risks are:  Incomplete abortion  Heavy bleeding  Infection  Cut or torn cervix  Organ injury  Death in one of 100,000 abortions

 Suction - The abortionist first paralyzes the cervix (womb opening.  Dilatation & Curettage (D&C) This is similar to the suction procedure except that the abortionist inserts a curette, a loop- shaped steel knife up into the uterus.  Dilatation & Evacuation (D&E) This method has largely replaced saline and chemical abortions.  D & X (Partial Birth) -The cervix is dilated to allow passage of a ring forceps.  Hysterotomy -This method is usually used late in pregnancy and is likened to an "early" Caesarian section.  Salt Poisoning- The abortionist injects a strong salt solution directly into the amniotic sac fluid surrounding the baby.  Prostaglandin Abortions -Three forms, two are injected and one is a vaginal suppository  RU-486 -A drug that produces an abortion taken after the mother misses her period

 The unborn babies don’t have a say in the situation.  the unborn babies should have the privilege to grow and live into a normal person.  Babies lives are being taken away from them  When a woman has an abortion, she will always think about the baby and what it would have been like, what it would have looked like, and if it was a girl or boy. Those thoughts will always be with her, and will always remind her she killed it.

COST FOR ABORTIONS- Range from $225 to $575 in the first trimester. WORLD WIDE  Number of abortions per year: Approximately 42 Million  Number of abortions per day: Approximately 115,000 UNITED STATES  Who's having abortions (age)? :52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%.  Abortion coverage: 48% of all abortion facilities provide services after the 12th week of pregnancy. 9 in 10 managed care plans routinely cover abortion or provide limited coverage. About 14% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds, virtually all of which are state funds. 16 states (CA, CT, HI, ED, IL, MA, MD, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, WA and WV) pay for abortions for some poor women.
