2 LITERARY TERMS: SATIRE Definition: -the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like in exposing of deriding vice or folly -A literary genre of compositions -to scorn at: to prose vice or to ridicule MY DEFINITIONS Definition: -Basically this is saying how you use sarcasm, and irony in exposing foolishness and evil habit of practice.

3 Synonyms: -1- irony -2,3- burlesque, caricature, and, parody Sentence: - On my way home to school I sat next to a boy who was very annoying and making no sense when he talked, so I used the sense of satire to override such foolishness. Little Tips: -Origin= Latin -Think of satire as either sarcasm and irony in a way to expose someone of foolishness - We all use this :D SATIRE

4 Here’s another example and this time it’s a visual!!! This is satire because it’s using sarcasm because a joke is not serious!

6 SYNONYMS: ~1,2~ nickname, sobriquet, designation, appellation ~3~ curse, insult, abuse, expletive, and obscenity Sentences: -To my father I will always be his little princess. That is his epithet for me. LITTLE TIPS: Origin= Latin and Greek -Think of epithet as a nickname or an insult (depending on the way you use it ). - Our friends and family use this to call upon each other! :D

7 EPITHET Here’s another example using visuals. This is an example because it is using a grave stone to insult some one and to display someone as an opinion!!!!!
