The birth of a King

Isaiah 9 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord

Daniel 7:13-14 I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.

Why do we need a King? In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. Judges 17:6

What is the promised King like? Jeremiah 23:5 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.

A humble King Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

A compassionate tender King Matthew 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. John 10 I am the Good Shepherd…The thief comes but to steal, kill and destroy, I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly….I lay down my life for the sheep

A Kingdom not of this world Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest…. But now my kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36 NIV

Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit (acquire/possess/obtain) the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 1 Corinthians 15:50

Principles of the Kingdom A life led by the Spirit of God For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Rom14:17) In this Kingdom we are not mere men (1 Cor3:3) but partakers of the divine nature (2Peter1:3-4) citizens of heaven, children of God ( Ephesians 1,2)

Principles of the Kingdom Gender, race and class equality: For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:27-28 NASB

Principles of the Kingdom A life led by the Spirit of God, the Law of the kingdom is Love Love is patient, kind, bears no record of wrongs Love your enemies Bless those who persecute you Healing, joy, peace, liberty Sons and daughters – a royal nation

There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus.

“ Rabbi we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you. ”

“ I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God. ”

“ What do you mean? How can an old man go back into his mother ’ s womb and be born again? ”

“ I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. ”

“ How are these things possible? ”

As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.

“ For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. ”
