1 1 WLTP Open Issue Phase 1B Issue: Handling of Manual Mode with Automatic Transmission. ACEA Informal Document 13.03.2014 WLTP-06-17e

2 2 Current Text of WLTP gtr: 1.2.6.5.3.2.In the case of CO 2 /fuel consumption testing, the vehicle shall be tested in the predominant mode. If the vehicle has no predominant mode, the vehicle shall be tested in the best case mode and worst case mode, and the CO 2 and fuel consumption results shall be the average of both modes. Vehicles with an automatic transmission with a manual mode shall be tested according paragraph 1.2.6.5.2. of this Annex.  1.2.6.5.2.Automatic shift transmission (Failure??) Page 2

3 3 Proposal: 1.2.6.5.3.2.In the case of CO 2 /fuel consumption testing, the vehicle shall be tested in the predominant mode. If the vehicle has no predominant mode, the vehicle shall be tested in the best case mode and worst case mode, and the CO 2 and fuel consumption results shall be the average of both modes. If vehicles with an automatic transmission with a manual mode are selected to be tested in this mode according to this paragraph, they shall be tested according paragraph 1.2.6.5.1. of this Annex. Rationale: Manual mode is merely another mode of an automatic transmission (and emissions limits have to be complied with in all normal driving modes). If this mode is either predominant or best or worst case as applicable, the shifting should follow the gear shift prescriptions for manual transmissions. Page 3
