Two or more numbers that are added to find a sum
Remember: Commutative Property of Addition Changing the order of addends does not change their sum. Ex. A + B = B + A
Associative Property of Addition The grouping of addends does not affect their sum. Ex. (a + b) + c = a + (b + c)
a+ (b+c) = (a+b)+c
5 + (3+4) = (5+3) +4 5+ 7 = 8+4 12 = 12
a+(b+c)= (a+b)+c 2+ (1+5)= (2+1) +5 2+6=3+5 8=8
