2. How they got here They came to America on the Mayflower (a ship) it took them 65 days to get here. They had very little food. They came here for freedom of religion. There were 101 men, women, and children on the ship, They were all very close together and most people got sick.

3. Landing They landed in America on November 9th, 1620. They arrived at Cape Cod Bay by accident A small party set out to explore. They were pared for battle with the feathered men (indians)

5. Relationship with the Indians When they first arrived they got into a little fight with them but no one died, after that they got along. They actually helped each other outMany colonists had never learned to farm. The Wampanoag helped them prepare the soil and introduced them to the crops that would help them survive in the New World.

6. Settlement The settlers named their new home after their English home, Plymouth (also spelled “Plimouth.”) They called their settlement “Plymouth Plantation.” The climate was cold, and life was more difficult than they had expected. Over the first winter, nearly half the settlers died of disease The early settlers thought they would make their living fishing. At that time, the oceans and rivers teemed with fish. But after living in Plymouth for several years, they became successful farmers and fur traders as well. They learned both of these skills through the local tribe, the Wampanoag.
