2 Do Now Today’s questions are: Other than the 3 G’s what other reasons would someone (can be a common person) leave their country to go to a new one? If it helps, try and think of reasons even in today’s world. Is the risk vs reward for a regular/common person greater than an explorer? Why?

8 C. Religious factors for colonization - People will question the Catholic Church - Claim there is corruption - These people will be run out of England

9 1.Martin Luther - Luther nails a list of 95 things wrong with the church  He believed in “Salvation through faith alone” - Starts the Protestant Religion

10 2. John Calvin - He believed in Pre- Destination  Pre-Destination – Your fate is already pre-determined for you -Also thinks there are “chosen people”

11 - You should live your life as close to God as possible and have a government and community like biblical times. - These people will become the Pilgrims
