2 22 THE MOTIVATION Mobility in tourism and leisure is not sustainable ~ 5% of the world`s total CO2-emissions are caused by tourism 50 % -75 % of environmental impacts of tourism are caused by transport: air pollutants, noise, green house gas emissions, land take, damage of landscape and villages (MuSTT Study of EC) Tourism travels show high peaks and concentrations of transport and environmental impacts Car and air travel are the major source of environmental pollutants and health risks and external costs

3 33 THE CHALLENGE Lack of sustainable mobility services like public transportation or cycling Weak quality of services Lack of information and cooperation High natural and cultural potentials in promising European destinations

4 44 THE CONNEX TO THE-PEP Contributing to Priority Goals and Partnerships for Implementation: 1: To contribute to sustainable economic development and stimulate job creation through investment in environment- and health-friendly transport. 3: To reduce emissions of transport-related greenhouse gases, air pollutants and noise and 4: To promote policies and actions conducive to healthy and safe modes of transport.

5 55 THE OBJECTIVE Support regions to provide socially fair, economically viable, environmentally friendly and health promoting mobility and tourism for citizens and guests… … by developing climate friendly, low-carbon and low-emission, multimodal and efficient transport systems and sustainable tourism services

6 66 THE SCOPE AND PURPOSE Collect good practices and identify solutions for mobility management Develop and implement environmentally sound mobility offers and packages Strengthen the cooperation between relevant stakeholders of different levels and sectors

7 77 THE PEP TRANSDANUBE PARTNERSHIP Initial partners from the projects Transdanube /Access2Mountain: 26 partners and more than 50 observers from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Moldava, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine

8 88 THE PAST ACTIVITIES 2 Projects, funded by ETC – South-East-Europe: Access2Mountain (2011– 2014), Transdanube (2012 – 2014) Main outputs/results: 3 good practices collections/1 State of the Art 1„Common Vision“ resp. „Common Charter“ 1 Transport Protocol (Carpathian Convention) 10 regional action plans 40 sustainable mobility packages 1 interactive map Cooperation on regional/national/ transnational level

9 99 NEW FOLLUW UP: TRANSDANUBE.PEARLS Submitted in the first call of the Interreg DANUBE TRANSNATIONAL 2017-2019, 2,5 years; 3,2 Mio. Euro Main Outputs/results: Network of regions committed to sustainable mobility Development of mobility services – along the Danube – in the regions – including pilot actions (e.g. regional mobility centers, bike rental systems, bike carriage on busses/trains, etc.) Capacity building: multilevel & intersectoral Kick-Off: spring 2017 in Serbia (Iron Gate) Mid-Term: 2018 in Ulm Final Conference: May/June 2019 in Vienna
