DB Desalting How do you design a new system into an existing plant? -start with your knowns; put into a PFD -where are your tie ins to the process? -what flow rates, temperatures and pressures do we need? Goal: remove salts from the oil measure composition in outlet stream Capstone design project (CHEE 470) will ask these same questions

8. Process Design Aim to minimize cost; only monitor what is needed – ex. monitor flow exiting the vessel and induce flow into vessel (CSTR) Composition matters! Determine vessel operating conditions – what are your desired parameters? – what results will you accept?
