1 Vocabulary Poster Think, Pair, Share

2 Vocabulary Poster Talk-Through This poster shows an area that is near the equator, in the tropics. You can see on the map where it is. This area is part of the Amazon basin, the area around the Amazon River. Lots of water is recycled in the basin. Rain that falls is absorbed by the trees and evaporates back into the air. Many tropical forests have been cut down so the land can be used for industrial purposes, such as mining. The trees that are cut down are often exported to other parts of the world. A group of charities worked to save this part of the forest. These people are checking whether there are enough trees in the area to stop erosion. They don’t want the soil to wear away too quickly.
