4 © Lemyre et al., 2010 Proven Power & Untapped Potential GIS Technology in Haiti Ushahidi Survivors texted their needs (rescue, food, water, shelter, etc.) These messages and locations were posted using crowd sourcing and Open Street Map (wiki) technology Google maps Responders used Google maps to report on the demographics of displaced persons camps, facilitating the distribution of food and shelter materials
