1 Batch Processing with Pitstop Server PAC05 Experience JACoW Team Meeting, Frascati November 2005 Charlie Horak, ORNL/SNS

2 JACoW Team Meeting, Nov. 14-18, 2005, Frascati, Italy2 Basic Functionality Interface almost identical to Pitstop Inspector Software easy to use--once I had the manual in hand to see how things work. Can download with license (from John Poole).

3 JACoW Team Meeting, Nov. 14-18, 2005, Frascati, Italy3 Subsetting Embedded Fonts For PAC05, papers needed to be reprocessed with fonts subsetted as well as embedded to meet IEEE requirement (Xplore capability). After papers were processed with Volker’s scripts, I ran them through Pitstop Server to subset the fonts. Processing ~1400 papers took ~1-2 hours. Note: Need to set up action list in Pitstop before running Pitstop Server.

4 JACoW Team Meeting, Nov. 14-18, 2005, Frascati, Italy4 Reducing File Size PAC05 Proceedings was 750 MB. –Papers alone were 643 MB (some papers were 5 to 6 MB). Batch processing to optimize files for the web reduced papers to 426 MB. Process took at least 3-4 hours—I left it running overnight.
