3 Setting up Your SIG/WG Site 1.Review the SIG/WG descriptions at the top of the page. Provide changes to John Shaw so they can be made in our system. 2.Develop your Public Page (more on this later). 3.Determine who should have administrative privileges to manage user, make edits, create sub-communities, add announcements, and maintain goals & projects 4.Create sub-communities for committees and workgroups. Click on blue “i” button for information on creating a sub-community. 5.Develop your annual goals (more on this later). 6.Add projects as appropriate (more on this later). 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training3

5 Process Flow 1.Build a Public Page for the SIG/WG 2.Add Annual Goals and Align with Strategic Initiatives 3.Add Projects Align with Strategic Initiatives Map to Goals Add Interests Add Topics (open-ended list for searching) Map to other SIG/WGs and sub-communities Assign Point of Contact information 4.Update as information changes but at least monthly to support the leadership meeting 5/9/20145SIG Leadership Training

6 Managing your Public Page We will set up a default Public Page using your “elevator” speeches. Click on “Read More” link from your SIG/WG page to access your public page. Click on “Edit” tab when viewing the public page. Note: you must have administrator privileges to edit this page. Make your changes (see screen shot and next page for instructions) 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training6

7 Editing a Public Page 1.Change the SIG/WG name only if it is incorrect. 2.Add the description of the SIG/WG as you wish it to appear to the public. You can include graphics and links. Suggest we establish a standard layout so that this area looks the same for all SIG/WGs. 3.DO NOT modify the SIG Reference. 4.Select the Interests you wish to link to the SIG/WG from a public perspective. This should be the same as the Interests you selected for the SIG/WG collaboration site, but could be different. 5.REMEMBER to click the SAVE button and check the appearance of your page. 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training7

8 Managing Your Goals To add a new Goal, click on the “Add a New Goal” button in the Goals box. Note: you will only see this button if you have authority to add a new Goal. To edit an existing Goal, click on the edit link next to the Goal. Note: you will only see this link if you have the authority to edit a Goal. Alternatively, you can click on the Edit tab when you are viewing a Goal. Make changes (see screen shot and next page for instructions) 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training8

9 Editing Goals 1.Title as you wish it to appear. Please keep this short, but meaningful. 2.Description of the Goal. Suggest that we establish a standard format for consistency. 3.DO NOT MODIFY the SIG or Working Group. 4.Identify the Strategic Priorities to which this Goal maps. 5.Assign a Priority. This will be used to sequence the Goals in a list. 6.Identify whether the Goal is Active. Inactive Goals wil not be displayed to the public. 7.Identify to which years this Goal applies. 8.REMEMBER to click the SAVE button and check the appearance of your page. 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training9

10 Managing Your Projects To add a new Project, click on the “Add a New Project” button in the Projects box. Note that you will only see this button if you have authority to add a new Project. To edit an existing Project, click on the edit link next to the Project. Note that you will only see this link if you have the authority to edit a Project. 11 Editing a Project 1.Project Title: Keep it short, but meaningful. 2.Project Description can include images and links. Suggest we establish a standard format for consistency. 3.Anticipated Outcomes 4.Strategic Initiative to which this Project maps. 5.Interests that align with the Project. 6.SIG/WG References: Identify other SIGs or WGs that are involve in the Project. 7.Identify the Sub-Community (if any) which is responsible for the Project. 8.Select a Project Status. 9.Provide any commentary on the Project Status. 10.Identify at least one Milestone. 11.Identify at least one Deliverable. 12.Assign a Priority. This will be also be used to sequent the Project in lists. 13.Pick the Goal(s) which the Project supports. 14.Identify at least one Point of Contact. You may have more than one, if you wish. Provide relevant contact information. 15.Upload any Project Files you want to provide to readers. This provides a quick link to project material. Note that you have the option to display the file. Uncheck this box if you do not want to display the file. 16.Click the Inactive box if you no longer wish to expose this Project. 17.REMEMBER to click the SAVE button and check the appearance of your page. 5/9/2014SIG Leadership Training11
