4 L’Introduction  One of the poorest countries in western hemisphere  Elected government based on Roman civil law system  Time is 1 hour ahead of Eastern time (approx.)  Soup is a very popular food  The flag’s blue and red stripes represent the union of black and mulatto people in Haiti  Country motto is “Union makes stregnth” or “L’union fait la force”  Capital of Haiti is Port-Au-Prince

15 Les Ressources Naturelles et les Industries  Natural resources are bauxite, copper, calcium carbonate, gold, marble and hydropower  Industries in sugar refining, flour milling, cement, tourism and light assembly industries based on imported parts

16 Le Tourisme - Labadie  Labadie, the most popular tourist attraction on Haiti, is located on Cap-Haitien  Labadie has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and is renowned for its curvaceous belt of mountains and its calm, blue Atlantic waters  Shows a bit of the history of Haiti and lots of colourful examples of the Haitians’ culture through arts and crafts  Snorkeling, coastal boat rides, parasailing, riding waverunners, jet skiing, banana boat rides, rafting and canoeing or simply floating on a mat in the water are among the many things to do at Labadie  The Artisan’s Market, located within the beach compound contains crate after crate of local products- sculptures, pottery, wood carvings and more
