2 Leading the way; making a difference INTERTANKO - Piracy INTERTANKO continues to push for action to eradicate piracy, we have a high level of participation :- GOOD news - very low levels of Somali attacks and ships held BAD news - the pirates have not gone away and will surely take up any opportunities Gulf of Guinea has seen more hijackings and theft of cargo

7 Leading the way; making a difference Gulf of Guinea (GoG) – What is happening? Six hijackings in six weeks did cause concern, with one ship taken as far away as Ivory Coast. Increased attacks at greater range. Stolen cargo disappears in Nigeria. Nigerian action. Capacity building in region Action by UK, US and France – US and French in region Coordination Centre and Guidance for vessels in GoG.
