Solve using the algorithm or using a model.

Find the greatest common factor of 42 and 30. ________ Find the least common multiple of 8 and 12. ________

32 – 1.45 = __________ *Hint- When adding and subtracting decimals, ALWAYS line up the decimal and add zeroes as needed. *Order matters in subtraction, so the first number of a subtraction problem MUST go on top!

(3.5)(2.8) = __________ *Hint- The parentheses mean to multiply the two numbers together. Remember, no need to line up the decimal when multiplying, but don’t forget to put it in your answer at the end!!!

Jessica used 3.5 yards of ribbon to make bows for the dance. If each bow required.25 yards of ribbon, how many bows did she make? *Hint- Set up a long division problem with.25 as your divisor and 3.5 as your dividend.

Why do you think we could call “1” the Least Common Factor? Is 1 a factor that really matters when working your problems?

A roller coaster train holds 30 passengers. If there are 308 people in line to ride, how many times will the train have to go for everyone to be able to ride? * Hint – Long division and then you will need to “round up!” to the next whole number in order for everyone to be able to ride.

14.72 + 3.4 + 16 = __________ *Hint- don’t forget to LINE UP the decimals and add zeroes as needed. The order of the numbers you are adding doesn’t matter because the Commutative Property tells me that you can add or multiply in any order and still get the same sum or product.

A shelf has a width of 2 ¾ inches. If CDs have a width of ½ inch, how many CDs can be placed on the shelf? Divide 2 ¾ by ½ using either a model or the algorithm and simplify your fraction.

Ryan has 8 pounds of coffee. He wants to repackage the coffee in to bags of 2/3 pound. How many bags of coffee can he make? *Hint- Divide 8 by 2/3 to get the answer using the algorithm.
