5. What Makes a Tiki? Defined by… Fierce Look Exaggerated Features

Tikis were often used to represent different deities, and would be carved with expressions and features that were attributed to a particular deity. They were also used to ward off evil spirits, for fertility, and numerous other reasons.

--Create a base for your piece, about 4” in diameter. (No more than 4”)
--Begin to roll coils
Spread your hands for even coverage
Make sure to roll all the way around the coil (Don’t rock it)
Coils should be ¼ - ½ in. thick
